8 programmable buttons (one more button, but functionality same as the CI Control). No joysticks this time – in serious offroad they would break sooner, rather then later.
The buttons part is split into two sections – one on each handlebar end, or with additional bracket and adapters both can be combined with CEV modules into a single instrument for both app control and operating your headlights, turn-signal, horn, kill switch – see the video. The bracket and adapters for the CEV modules will be announced soon, we expect the price to be in the range of USD 30 excl. VAT.
Buttons will be embedded in machined billet aluminum cases, black matte anodized (the pictures are just 3D print, but this is just for prototyping).
Front wheel magnetic sensor support for true distance readings – will work with the announced road book app for Android by Drive Mode.
Dual function – Bluetooth low energy and UART port. BLE part will make it compatible with (just about) any Android smartphone / tablet. UART port is specifically intended for the connection with v3 CI Pad. Functionality of the UART will, however, come later in form of a software update and a purchase of a cable will be necessary (cca USD 10). UART does not bring additional functionality at this time, but it is a more secure connection specifically for racing situations. Also, it will be possible to use the UART port for charging the CI Pad v3 through the Rally Control (one power source for both), which allows to avoid possible problems with spring contacts used in the Holder under harsh conditions (offroad, racing). Charging through the UART port will, however, require to disable the charging via Holder (CI Pad cannot be charged through both at the same time).
Powered by the bike electrical system through DC step down converter (converter is part of the delivery). On-board backup battery (functionality is preserved even when you kill ignition).
The Rally Control is currently in the development stage, and the above are preliminary specifications, which may be modified for final product. However, what is NOT changing is the basic layout (2X4 layout, dual function – BLE/UART and support for front wheel magnetic sensor).
